There is no fault in our reporting, Ansel Elgort is admittedly coming to our small screens!

On March 14, HBO Max launched the trailer for its upcoming crime drama Tokyo Vice, starring Elgort, Ken Watanabe and Rinko Kikuchi. The J.T. Rogers–created sequence is loosely primarily based on American journalist Jake Adelstein’s nonfiction firsthand account of working the Tokyo Metropolitan Police beat.

Tokyo Vice follows Adelstein—performed by Elgort—and his “each day descent into the neon-soaked underbelly of Tokyo within the late ’90s, the place nothing and nobody is really what or who they appear,” in response to the present’s description.

“Giving up and going residence just isn’t an possibility,” Adelstein says within the trailer. “I need to know the actual Tokyo, what’s beneath the floor.”

“Pay attention, Jake,” Hiroto Katagiri (Watanabe)—a detective for the Tokyo Metropolitan Police who guides Adelstein—tells the journalist, “with data, every thing you do has penalties. There may be all the time a price.”

Because the suspenseful clip continues with Adelstein working by the violent streets, Katagiri provides, “This world, as soon as we open the door, it is rather laborious to shut.”
